I was on the Eastern Shore of Md. yesterday and got home after dark so I
don't know if they came yesterday or overnight, but today at the finch feeders,
there have been at least(sure count) 29 Pine Siskins, maybe more. I haven't
seen this many at once since the late 70's back in Ks. Also instead of the
usual
5-6 Goldfinches, there are at least 30 at sure count. Also around the yard
and edges are at least 30-40+ Juncos. Purple finches(26) are about equally male
and female. Not a House Finch in sight. Chipping sparrows(16) are present
along with Field Sparrows, Song Sparrows, and White-throated Sparrows. On the 8
acre lake in the front yard is a Pied-billed Grebe, a Ruddy Duck, and 2
Bufflehead(male and female). Gotta find my winter coat. Dave White Zion
