While locating a kingfisher nest near the Harrisonburg Water Intake
along the Shenandoah River in Rockingham County, I spotted a swan with
a black bill. The many canoeist along the river pushed the swan by us
several times causing the bird to call. I am 99% certain the call was
more like a tundra than a trumpeter. The bird was missing at least one
primary feather on the left wing.
