[va-bird] Surry, Prince George and Culpeper Counties

Gordy Adamski, spouse, Marty the Jack Russell, and I headed over to Hog
Island WMA on Saturday, Feb 28 making several stops along the way in Prince
George County and Sunken Meadows Garden. From Hog Island we took the James
River Ferry for a most enjoyable ride across the river to the Colonial Parkway.
Many highlights including good showing of Bald Eagle and a pair of Common
Goldeneye at Sunken Meadows Garden.

Today, Sunday, Feb. 29, I took late afternoon drive to Culpeper County in
search of owls where I ran into the Estes (I hope I remember the name
correctly.) and Bill and Clare Leaning. I managed to find only one owl, a
Great-horned, that was chased out of field by seven Northern Harrier. No
"definite" Short-eared. In addition to at least 11 Northern Harrier, other
raptors included Red-tailed, Cooper's, Sharp-shinned, American Kestrel and
one adult Bald Eagle.
