We made a short visit to Sunrise Valley Park this morning.
The Great Egret, a Solitary sandpiper and at least four Green herons were in
the pond. Just as we were leaving 28 Canada geese flew in.
We saw an Adult male Eastern Towhee with one juvenile. Also, there were upwards
of seven or eight Barn Swallows.
For those of you who include butterfly watching while you are out birding there
were a lot of Tiger Swallowtails and Silver spotted skippers in the Teasel
along the path on the south side of the park and a Spicebush Swallowtail
elsewhere on our walk.
The continuing hot weather has reduced the water level somewhat, but we are
hoping the exposed mud flats will bring in a few more shorebirds.
