Hello--
Spent about an hour this morning at Sunrise Valley Park. This was a great
opportunity to watch lots of bird families being fed by the parents. Ran into
Jay and Carol Hadlock there and we enjoyed watching a Great Crested Flycatcher
fly back and forth from the trees to the office buildings carrying food. It
was quite methodical--flying up three stories onto a ledge, calling, resting,
then flying up to the roof, looking around, and then hopping over the edge to
where I guess the nest was. I watched it do this over and over. Once or twice
it got "confused" and hovered in front of the window of the adjacent building.
Jay spotted a group of three brown thrashers in one of the trees. There were
also plenty of tree swallows, a towhee family, an eastern kingbird, and one
killdeer flying around.
Enjoy the birds!
