I walked the park paths from about 5pm to 6:30pm. The light was too
poor for photography, but there were ample birds to watch. I recommend
parking at one of the office buildings if you're going to the park.
It's safer than trying to cross Sunrise Valley Dr.
ROBIN - at least 100.
KILLDEER - trying to lure me away from it's nest by playing injured
KINGFISHER SP - Couldn't get a clear enough view for perfect ID.
MALLARD - 4
KINGBIRD - 3-4. I didn't see the white on the tips of their tails, but
I've seen lots of them and I'm 95% sure.
HOUSE FINCH - 8
NORTHERN FLICKER - 1
SPARROW SP - 20 probably chipping sparrows.
I saw something that looked like a robin or towhee, except that it had
a white spot on its rump. It was about 10' up in a little tree and when
I spooked it, it flew about 40' down the path and into the brush. I
haven't had a chance to look it up and see what it might have been. But
it definitely was about robin sized and had red on the breast and/or
neck.
