I went over to Sunrise Valley Park this morning at about 11:45 AM to see the Great Egret which was feeding out in the open. While there, I was pleased with my first sighting of a Pileated Woodpecker for that location. I have birded this little known gem, almost weekly, for about three years and these two birds bring my total species count for this location to 104. I don't think more than about a handful or so of birders frequent this park. Ron Staley Herndon, Va You are subscribed to VA-BIRD.
