I went to Sunrise Valley Park this morning and noticed that they had spruced up the park in anticipation of eventual occupation of the new office buildings. The new wood chips and some of the trimming were welcome but one thing gave me some concern. While "landscaping" the park they took the opportunity of mowing a lot of the natural grasses particularly around the pond and on the upper path near the office buildings, I guess in an attempt to neaten up the park a bit. In the process they removed a lot of cover and sparrow habitat. The Field Sparrows will miss it. Does anyone know a contact for the owners of the park and who is in charge of it's maintenance so we could ask them to refrain from mowing the grassy areas to preserve the habitat?
