Virginia birders,
A Summer Tanager in female plumage has been visiting our feeders since at least
Saturday the 22nd of January. The bird has been eating suet and no-hull
sunflower seeds. A neighbor reported seeing the bird on Sunday the 17th but
had not seen it again. I have photographed the bird and can send digital
photos if anyone is interested. Has anyone heard of a previous January record
for this species in Virginia? I plan to submit a report to the Virginia
Rarities Committee.
