A Summer Tanager was seen this morning, Thursday, 04/29/2004, at Huntley
Meadows Park, in the tops of the tall oaks on the right of the entrance to the
boardwalk. Also seen were two Snowy Egret in the Central Pond, two
Yellow-billed Cuckoo were heard in wood around the Central Pond around 0900,
and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak was seen at the feeder at the Visitor's Center at
0700.
The sandpiper are still present in large numbers along with the Greater and
Lesser Yellowlegs. Two Soras seen at the same time lend substance to the wish
for a breeding pair. White-throated Sparrows are still very abundant in the
low-brush and at the Visitor's Center. Ovenbird were heard -- teacher,
teacher, teacher!
