[va-bird] Spring concert in the dead of winter

Yesterday afternoon as I worked in the kitchen I heard the sweet cascading song 
of a song sparrow, repeated over and over, seeming to come from the next room.  
Looking out the dining room deck door, where I had set an extra dish of 
sunflower seed on top of the snow, there was the little fellow, feathers all 
puffed up, singing his heart out to his reflection in the window.  An 
encouraging promise of things to come!
