Hello birders,
In the week since I last did my "Field and Stream" walk in my neighborhood, a
lot of old friends have returned. The following were the first of their
species I've seen in my vicinity this year:
Green Heron
Great Crested Flycatcher
Eastern Kingbird - I'd say at least 8 in two adjacent meadows, with much
scuffling over the best treetops. Also, one rode the back of a Red-Shouldered
Hawk across the field, giving him grief for daring to perch in the neighborhood.
White-Eyed Vireo - 3
Catbird - they're back in force!
Yellow Warbler - 2 pairs chasing through the same thicket
Yellowthroat
Orchard Oriole - 4 males and one female, one checking out the same tree it
nested in last year right next to a Kingbird
I haven't yet heard the local Y-B Cuckoo, E. Pewee, Acadian FC, Red-Eyed Vireo,
Wood Thrush, Parula Warbler, Y-B Chat, Baltimore Oriole, Grasshopper Sparrow,
or Indigo Bunting.
Also seen were 3 Red-Headed Woodpeckers.
Cheers,
Mary Ann Good
