I headed up to South River Falls yesterday and saw a decent number  of
birds.It seemed like it was about to rain throughout the day which kept
temperatures down.

Most of the expected species were seen though there were one or two misses
including (Yellow-throated Vireo which I usually spot about midway down the
Fireroad ie. about .8 of a mile from the drive. The other three misses were
Black-throated Blue, Winter Wren, and Veery. I sensed that the numbers of
Ceruleans were lower than previous years but that is  subjective.

Highlights:

Warblers:
* Chestnut-sided - 5
* Am Redstart - lots
* Ovenbird - `15
* Blackburnian - several heard along the AT between the Fireroad and the
South River Falls trail. I have seen them in the same spot previous years. I
am not sure the attraction this spot has for Blackburnians as there is only
one or two conifers in the area.
* Hooded -- 5 --- two seen; the rest heard
* Worm-eating -several
* Kentucky- one heard and seen as a blur shooting off into the dense cover
near the falls overlook.
* Cerulean- 3 on the circuit hike and 2 more at an overlook just south of
theparking area to South River Falls.
* Louisanna Waterthrush-1
* Canada- 4
* Blackpoll - 2 heard

Others:
* Scarlet tanager - many
* Rose-breasted Grosbeaks- 4-6
* Broadwing-1
* Barred Owl -2-  heard only
* Acadian Flycatcher
* E Pewee
* Phoebe
* Woodthrush
* YB Cuckoo

To top things off I got my first decent bird photo of a Chestnut-sided! All
in all a nice relaxing day.
