Hello all,
There were 20 or more birders on the top deck of the parking garage at Dulles
when I got there around 4:40 on Feb. 3.
The SNOWY OWL was visible, but stayed quite a ways off--on a light post just
beyond the western end of the D Concourse. Too bad it was so far off otherwise
the sunny weather and lack of wind would have provided great photo
opportunities.
A bonus yesterday was the appearance, around 5:15, of a SHORT EARED OWL
cruising the grassy strips, often between the 3 and 4 thousand foot markers of
the main North/South runways that are to the west of the parking garage.
Periodically it would perch on runway directional signs.
