The Northern Virginia Bird Club had a field trip to
Beaverdam Resevoir today led by myself and Erika Wilson.
Our best bird was a Snow Goose found amid some Canadas
on the west side of the lake. The Snow Goose was alert
and on edge the whole time we observed it with its neck
streched straight up giving a good view of its shaggy
neck feathers. In contrast the Canadas were happily doing their thing,
snoozing, preening or whatever. Other birds of
interest included Osprey, both Kinglets, and Purple Finch.
We had a total of 40 species with a couple added at the Dulles Westlands. If
anyone wants the complete list, email me off line.
