I went with a friend of mine (Ted Lewis from Philadelphia) to the Central Marsh
at Huntley Meadows (Fairfax County). Still not many ducks (5 Hooded Merg
drakes and 4 hens) and (1 Northern Shoveler drake accompanied by a hen). There
were about 25 Wilson's Snipe mixed in with some Killdeer and a lone Greater
Yellowlegs. The Red-headed Woodpeckers along Barnyard Run at the first beaver
dam were quite active this morning. We saw 2 adults and a youngster.
