[va-bird] Snickers 9/22

As the saying goes, Apres le(s) deluge(s) - moi! And a whole lot of birds!
Got
to the site late (2 1/2 hrs) due to traffic, flooded roads, etc, which
resulted in my
not knowing where in the world I was for a while. However, I persevered to
find
BJ holding down the fort magnificently. First, the birds:
Osprey - 3
Bald Eagle 9
Harrier 1
Sharpshinnned 21
Red Shoulder 1
Broadwing 1292
Redtail 2
Kestrel 23

TOTAL 1462 (or something like that)

The winds were brisk; there were clouds hither and thither over the bright
blue
sky; the temps were in the 60's, and life was sweet! The birds started out
at a reasonable altitude, but of course hit the stratosphere as time went by.
Poor ole Ian has "scope eye", but he's young and will recover.

Other observers/counters were: BJ Westerveldt, Tom Armour and his wife,
Richard and Heather Taylor, Glen Gerarda, Joe Coleman, Ralph Wall, Shannon
Dart,
William Leigh and
Bart Frazier. Another couple was watching in the morning, but I'm afraid I
didn't
have time to be hospitable so they will forever remain mysterious.
