Hello birders,
This morning Rosemarie and I birded the Skyline Drive from Rt. 33 to
South River Falls and walked the 3.5 mile Falls trail.
15 warbler species were seen with Mourning Warbler being our favorite.
Black-throated Blue Warblers were on the move, saw about fifty of them.
50 total species including Veery, Swainson's & Wood Thrushes and
Winter Wren. Hensley Hollow Overlook was especially birdy, we spent an
hour there sorting thru more than a 100 birds.
Huge flight of angle winged butterflies, the ones we looked at were
Eastern Commas. At least 150 were killed on the Parkway.
