Hello, birders.
I birded the (still officially closed) Shearman's Mill
Trail at chilly Sky Meadows SP today. Top birds were
EASTERN PHOEBE near the barn and a HORNED LARK flyover
in the same area.
Lots of sparrows were in the woods and fields - SONG
and WHITE-THROATED with some JUNCO and FIELD. A pair
of BALD EAGLES soared above Rte. 17 at its junction
with Edmonds Lane, a pair of AM. KESTRELS were perched
on a wire across from the fishing pond and a few
RED-TAILED HAWKS were about. I heard a couple of
gulls overheard but couldn't find them. RED-WINGED
BLACKBIRDS are back, with a flock of females feeding
on the forest floor, another smaller flock of females
passing through and a few males flying around, also.
