Hello, birders.
Here are some birds that I had at Sky Meadows SP on Saturday. I had the
pleasure of running into Matt Bender in the morning (I hope I got your name
correct). I birded from the contact station up to part of the AT, by way of
the So. Ridge Tr. I had pockets of migrants here and there. Numbers were not
high, except Indigo Buntings and Blue Jays, which were esp. visible and common
today.
-R.t. Hawk
-Am. Kestrel
-R.t. Hummingbird, one was nectaring on Spotted Touch-me-not
-all 6 expected woodpeckers in mid-Sept., incl Red-headed
-E.W. Pewee
-Blue Jay, lots
-Yel.-thr. Vireo
-Red-eyed Vireo
-B. Thrasher, 1 near App. Tr. I think last year's hurricane may have created
some habitat for this species here.
-Tenn. Warbler
-Ch.-sided Warbler
-Bl.-thr. Blue Warbler
-Bl.-thr. Green Warbler
-Blackburnian Warbler
-Blackpoll Warbler
-Am. Redstart
-Worm-eating Warbler
-Com. Yellowthroat
-Sc. Tanager
-Rose-br. Grosbeak
-Indigo Bunting, lots
-Balt. Oriole
Butterflies were not as numerous as they were a month ago.
