I thought something was wrong with this bird when she didn't fly off
when I let the dogs out this afternoon.
She let me get WAY too close (even as good as I am at approaching
wildlife ;) ). I went back in, got my camera and got a few shots.
She would wipe her eye on the deck and it would leave a wet spot. Her
other eye looks normal to me, but she would hold it closed for a long time.
She eventually flew off to the bird bath and then into the trees.
This evening, I found her on the deck again. She seems to have a bit of
trouble seeing. Almost as if she was missing target trying to land on
limbs and such.
Anyway, anyone know what disease or injury this might be by looking at it?
Is it contageous and do I need to pull my feeders for a few days until
this one is gone?
Don't suppose there is anything that can be done to save her?
Here's a shot of her eye...
