Evening,
A cold day in SNP, the temperature started out at 38
F. It was overcast and misty most of the day. I
birded along the drive from Swift Run Gap to Big
Meadows in the Central District.
The Point Overlook Mile 55.6 Elevation 3235 feet
Barred Owl - repeated song three times
Ovenbird - Multiple Ovenbirds were singing. I was able
to follow this bird for 30 minutes. It seemed to
ignore my presence.
Blue-headed Vireo - Gleaning in Service Berry Bush.
Dark-eyed Juncos
Eastern Towhees
Gray Catbirds
American Robins
Crows
Ravens
Naked Creek Overlook Mile 53.2 Elevation 3250 feet
Downy Woodpecker
White-breasted Nuthatch
Cowbirds
American Robins
Eastern Bluebird
Chimney Swifts
Carolina Chickadee
Big Meadows Mile 51.2 Elevation 3510
Screech Owl - Ranger was showing a Screech Owl at
Visitor Center. It had an injured right eye.
A good lunch and delicious blackberry milkshake!
