Hola,
The spot in northern Fauquier County that boasted up to thirty Short-eared
Owls last winter has at least a couple in the area this year. I saw two
Short-eareds there this evening, along with two Northern Harriers, a Red-tailed
Hawk, and a few Bald Eagles. There were scores of meadowlarks flying about as
well.
The location is on Route 624 (Crenshaw Road), a little over a half mile from
the intersection with Route 710 (Rectortown Road). Route 710 runs north off
of Route 55 at Marshall; Crenshaw is on the right as you approach the
village of Rectortown. On Crenshaw there is a field with a gazebo type thing
in
it, and there is a chain/cable across the driveway into this place. You can
park on the apron to the driveway, and the field is across the street. Not a
lot of traffic here, and the folks that live nearby have all been pretty
friendly with me in the past, but there's enough traffic that you could get
mowed
down easily enough if you're not careful.
Cheers,
Todd
