Yo,
The birding was generally slow during my big loop hike
at Shenandoah yesterday. I did hear one RUFFED GROUSE
drumming (so cool how the sound seems to come from
within your body, like a heartbeat) and heard a GREAT
HORNED OWL hooting in late afternoon. These 2 birds
were heard from the Old Rag Fire Road (Madison Co.).
NO warblers except for 1 male BLACK-THROATED GREEN.
The leaves were beautiful. The traffic coming back to
No. Va. was not.
