As of yesterday, Sunday, August 1, 2004, at least three Sedge Wren continue
to sing in the field on Glebe School Road (Rt. 876) near Mish Barn Road
(also Rt. 876) intersection in Augusta County.
The Red Gate Wren made several appearances, perching on far back section of
fence. From the road there is a fence running down the field toward the
river. Near the road is a red gate. This is NOT the red gate where wren
is observed. Continue down to where the fence links up to back fence;
there is a red gate in the corner. This is the area the one wren makes
occasional appearances. Yesterday it was observed several times on the far
back fence approximately 7 posts left of the corner red gate. To the right
of this fence line one wren continues to sing from area of the utility pole
with (POSTED) sign. A third was heard inbetween the pole and fence but
further back.
Spotting scope is recommended!
