Hello VAbirders,
First, Scott's finger-perching GCKinglet story sure cheered me up. What fun!
Second, Laura's 10/20 Ruby-throated hum makes me exclaim, YES!!!! More
fun! (BTW, I was in Arizona for a couple weeks, so didn't get to see what
might prove to be our last Ruby-throated, but my son reports the latest one
here was 10/13. Not bad! Still watching tho, especially in case a
Calliope stops by!)
Third, a surprise treat streaked into the yard yesterday, Blue-headed
Vireo. That new yardbird that was so frenetic and bouncy it must have been
hanging out with a bunch of Ruby-crowned Kinglets! Speaking of which,
we've had a small flock of RCKinglets here for the last 5 days or so.
Fourth, our FOD(first observed date) for White-throated Sparrow is
10/15. Still no Juncos. And I think there must be a Sharpie in the
neighborhood because several times in the last day I've seen the Mourning
Doves "frozen" when I've checked the garden for birds.
