I am happy to report that the scissor-tailed flycatcher at Countryside Golf
Course in Roanoke is on a nest! My husband and I were there for about an
hour and a half yesterday evening and only saw the one bird, but Barry
Kinzie, who was there the previous day, thought he saw two. So if you go
by, keep an eye out for a second bird, and it goes without saying that we
need to try not to disturb the female so she won't abandon the nest. We
have a pretty good picture of the nest and a decent one of the bird (don't
expect anything along the lines of Brenda Tekin's photos) taken through the
scope. We will try to get them on the Roanoke Valley Bird Club site at
http://roanokebird.tripod.com in the next few days.
