All,
After 4 attempts, I finally got a glimpse of the 3 Sandhill Cranes that have
been residing along Mossy Creek Road -
Rt. 757, in the fields around a large yellow house with white wrap-around
porch
Box #398. The birds were spotted by several birders feeding in the fields
adjacent to the house. However, they also were seen flying across Mossy Creek
Road and slipping down behind a row of tall trees along the banks of Mossy
Creek
opposite of the yellow house.
Just before dusk I saw the birds in flight heading back from Mossy Creek to
the cornfields/woods behind the yellow house #398. A local fellow, who has sort
of kept an eye on these birds, stated that he thought they roosted in the
woods behind the cornfields above the house. I don't know anything about the
natural history of Sandhill Cranes, so I don't know if they would be likely to
roost in trees in the woods or not.
Have to do a little research, I suspose.
