The three Sandhill Crane, first reported by Jeanie Reeves, were located
last evening (August 6) between 5:45 - 6:30 p.m. along Mossy Creek Road -
Rt. 757, in field left of large yellow house with white wrap-around porch
with Box #398 as described by Allen Larner. I was soon joined by area
residents Jim and Shirley Kirkwood.
If visiting this area, do not block driveways and DO NOT stop in the
road. There is NOT room to pull off along the road. Road has bends and
dips and it can be quite busy and dangerous with fast moving
vehicles. Directly across from the yellow house is vacant store where
there is ample space to pull your vehicle completely off the road. Walk
back few short yards toward the field to scan for the birds. Again, be
very careful walking along this sometimes busy road! The birds were
actively feeding 250-300 yards back on far hillside and not always easily
seen from the road!
