Birders,
This morning at 11:35 AM, I saw a Sandhill Crane flying over the yard.
It flew out of sight in a southeasterly direction. If accepted by
VARCOM this would be the second record for the species in the Piedmont.
It has already been accepted by me for yard bird #151!
Also in the yard this morning: Purple Finch (1 male on feeder), Brown
Creeper (1st of season), Winter Wren, Swamp Sparrows. Red-breasted
Nuthatches seen a couple of days ago were not seen today.
Keep looking up!
George Harris
