I tried this area twice on Friday (28th) with no luck. I also tried the
open areas at Kiptopeke, no luck there either. It was very windy and cold on
the Lower Eastern Shore that day. Cape Charles in particular was really
bleak!
There were a dozen or so Purple Sandpipers sheltering on the south face of
the Cape Charles pier, and at least 25-30 on Island 1 of the CBBT. It seemed
that they just didn't want to fight the wind!
