At 0728 today, a Rufous or Allen's Hummingbird visited the side yard at the
house today in Cape Charles (9 Randolph Ave.). I had not seen it here before
today, though we've had 3 other Selasphorus visit in past years, 2 of them
Rufous. The bird appeared to be a young male, but I would like to get a better
look at it, of course. If it turns out to be an Allen's (which would be
confirmable only by measurements), I'll post that news here. Jon Dunn and
Jonathan
Alderfer will be visiting here for the next few days, so maybe they'll tell me
it's something else altogether! As always, anyone is welcome to watch the
yard/feeders from the b&b's porch. The blooming pineapple salvia and feeders
are
in the front end of the yard.
