Posted this earlier today, but it didn't seem to make it. I understand
there's been some kind of widespread Verizon outage today, so maybe
that's why.
I was shocked to discover my first hummingbird early this morning. I
always put one feeder up by April 1 to aid those migrating through that
might find it, so luckily my feeder was already there. I've been
logging my first hummer arrivals since 1999 and the earliest I've ever
had them arrive was April 13 in 2001.
I also start monitoring the Hummingbird Migration Map the beginning of
April and this weekend noticed that someone in central Virginia reported
one on March 26. Things are happening early this year!
