While doing Sector 10 for the Calmes Neck Count Karen & I found a light morph
Rough-legged Hawk on Yellow Schoolhouse Road, Rt. 831, about a 1/2 mile south
of Snickersville Tpk, Rt. 734. It was perched in a tree alongside the road &
next to a pasture of approx. 40 acres & flew when I practically ran off the
road upon seeing it.
Our other two nice birds, an adult male Rufous Hummingbird and two Short-eared
Owls, were found on private properties for which we had rec'd special
permission to visit for the CBC. We also found 9 Red-headed Woodpeckers, three
on Ebenezer Church Road & two on Foggy Bottom Rd. The Snow Goose I saw
yesterday was not relocated today, at least by us.
