Greetings...
Bob Abrams and I found and photographed a Rough-legged Hawk on Interstate 66
in Fauquier County today. It was between mile markers 15 and 17, seen from
the east bound lane in the median of the highway. The habitat is marginal at
best for a Rough-legged, so I can't imagine it spending the winter.
Over in Remington, in southern Fauquier County, we had a pair of male
Brewer's Blackbirds along Grassdale Road (route 755) on the left side of
road, across the pasture in the mud, walking among the cows.
Two adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls were among the thousand or so gulls at
the Fauquier Landfill, decent count week birds for tomorrow's Plains/Airlie
CBC.
