Today, I watched a female mature rough-legged hawk perched on a nearby
tree. It dove down, perhaps in search of a meal, then perched in
another nearby tree. Later I saw it fly by the front window. Yesterday
I spotted what I think was the same hawk cruising around the horse
field. On snowy days, I always see what I assume is the same pair of
Evening Grosbeaks. A question- everytime I see Evening Grosbeaks at
the feeder, it's alway two and a pair. Does anyone know if they stay
paired up during the winter regularly? They stay very close together
and both always fly away and appear at the feeders at the same time. Also-
One lone cardinal has been visiting the feeder...and a hairy is
working the suet hard. It was -2 here this morning. A red squirrel
gets an opportunity to feed on seeds as long as the dog is not around.
