I finally saw a Rose-breasted Grosbeak return to the monastery. It showed up
this morning and spent most of the day at the feeders, with short breaks for
singing from a treetop. Also saw this morning a female Hummer show up to join
the male which has been here for some time. A Cooper's Hawk chased all the
feeder finches and jays, but came up empty taloned and continued its northern
migration, along with 2 Osprey (there were probably more, but I just happened
to notice these two zip by with a tremendous tail-wind).
