Actually, the 100 Ring-necked Ducks on 3/20/05 is way down from a month or so
ago when I estimate there were three to four times that many. This isn't an
unusual number for Riverbend Park based on my observations in some previous
winters.
An interesting fact is that the majority of the Ring-necks wintering here are
drakes. There is probably only one female for every 20 to 25 males present.
Anyone know where the females congregate in the winter?
