Hello All,
Riverbend Park has been good to me the past two days. Today a Yellow-throated
Vireo quietly
moved about the low branches and what two of us believe was a glimpse of a
Tennessee
Warbler, peeking out from the leafy vines.
The trick to Riverbend has been being in position before the Sun rises above
the treeline and
casts its glow on the lower portions of the trees. This has been occurring at
about 7 a.m.
at the far end of the Meadow Trail from the River (along Jeffery Road).
The wave of migrants shows up immediately thereafter and lasts for only about
20 minutes.
At one point there were too many birds for me to successfully "get on." I
managed to see,
in addition to the two already mentioned, Common Yellowthroats, a Northern
Parula, and at
least two Magnolia Warblers. A hummingbird buzzed through without stopping, a
Swamp
Sparrow was singing, and a Pileated Woodpecker put on a nice show.
Take Care,
Jay
