The meadow at Riverbend Park (Fairfax County) was surprisingly quiet this
morning, except for Red-eyed Vireos and Pewees seen in good numbers. I only
found one warbler--a Redstart. Other colorful sightings included Baltimore
Oriole, Great Crested Flycatcher, and Pileated Woodpecker. The meadow was like
a
sauna this morning. The winds will be from the northeast overnight with lower
temperatures in the forecast so tomorrow may be better for both birds and
birders.
Back home, warblers taking leaf baths included Redstart, Chestnut-sided,
Magnolia, and Tennessee, only one of each. An Ovenbird was also present.
