Hello VA-Birders,
I couldn't resist heading to one of my favorite spots this morning, which is
Riverbend Park in Fairfax County along the Potomac River. I arrived at 6:30
and stayed until nearly 8 AM. During this time I saw a decent assortment of
waterfowl, among them 10 WOOD DUCKS sporting very vibrant plumage. Strangely,
all of them were cruising in pairs along the Maryland shoreline. I walked
quite far along the trail to where Great Falls Park begins, and while walking
back I heard the distinctive calls of the RUSTY BLACKBIRD. Looking up, I
counted 3 heading toward Great Falls, and is the first I have seen them this
year. I suppose more will be moving through soon.
Have fun out there!
