Hi All,
I went looking for Jay Keller's Common Goldeneyes at Riverbend this morning.
I did not find them but did see large rafts of Ring-necked Ducks, many
Common Mergansers (one male sitting on a rock which made him look like some
sort of rare sea duck until I got him in the scope), a lone Hooded
Merganser, dozens of Buffleheads, a few Lesser Scaup, and of course,
Mallards, RB Gulls, and Canada Geese. I walked toward the Nature Center
following the creature pawprints in the snow, but the best viewing was
achieved by walking towards the falls from the boat landing at the Visitor
Center. Like Jay, I saw Eastern Bluebirds...a flock of 12 on the water's
edge. Noisy Pileated and Hairy Woodpeckers were out and about as well.
