About 6:45 this evening at Riverbend Park (Fairfax County) I saw a female
Common Merganser on the Potomac with (as best I could count) 17 ducklings.


In addition to Dorothy Tella's sighting above, while participating on the 
May 14 C & O Canal count, we found a male and female Common Merganser with 3, 
possibly 4,  ducklings on the Potomac River a little north of Pennyfield 
Lock.
