[va-bird] Riverbend Park - Blue-winged Warbler, YT Vireo

Hello VA-Birders,

I had a very fun morning at Riverbend Park today along the trail to Great Falls
Park beside the Potomac. I was there a little over an hour and I saw 52
species of birds, including 11 warbler species. I crossed the 200 year-bird
mark with GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER and added two more. The best birds were:
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER in the canopy with a mixed flock, YELLOW-THROATED VIREO,
and WILD TURKEY (heard only - are they everywhere?). The Blue-winged was very
difficult to locate. If I didn't know its call (and know what I would get to
see), I'd have given up on it.

In addition to Blue-winged, warbler species included NORTHERN PARULA,
YELLOW-RUMPED, PINE, BLACK-AND-WHITE, PROTHONOTARY, WORM-EATING, OVENBIRD,
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. At one
point I had Black-and-white, Prothonotary, Yellow-rumped, and LA Waterthrush
all over my head singing at once. Quite a festival! When I got in my car
shortly thereafter, the silence was deafening.

Several SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were along the river and on the rocks, WOOD THRUSHES
were singing, and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET numbers were much lower (only got one).

Another birder suggested I give Riverbend another chance and I'm glad I
listened!
