I visited Riverbend Park in Fairfax Co. this afternoon. There was a lot of
ice on the river, but still large portions are open, with large numbers of
waterfowl: Canadas, Gadwall, Blacks, Mallards, Ring-neckeds, Greater Scaup,
Bufflehead and Common Mergs.
There was also an adult Bald Eagle circling the river. About a quarter mile
down stream there was a Mallard with what appeared to be his left wing stuck
to the ice. I guess the Eagle was waiting for dinner.
And it was cold.
