[va-bird] Richmond area this past Saturday

I finally was able to visit a spot I have been hoping to see for a few years. I visited the 42nd Street entrance for the James River Park in Richmond. It is a very nice spot. I was able to have wonderful views of a singing CANADA WARBLER, as well as hearing several others. I also heard WARBLING VIREO, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, BALTIMORE ORIOLES, and VEERY among other species. I just wish I had been able to get there earlier. I also saw a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW (a little late?).

One question I do have. Has anyone's car been broken into while visiting this place? I noticed signs in the parking lot, warning of this possiblity.

I also visited Pocahontas State Park, south of Richmond. Beaver pond was nice (flowering waterlilies), but there were few species encountered (midday probably keep the birds quiet). I did have nice views of RED-EYED VIREOS and a male SCARLET TANAGER.

I also stopped by Henrico Historical Park, hoping to find previously reported MOORHENS. I had NO such luck unfortunately.
