A few leisurely trips today to local spots around Woodbridge yielded a
few intersting birds. Best bird was two red-necked grebes at Occoquan
NWR. Also seen were my first Forster's tern of the year at Neabsco
Creek, chipping sparrow at Leesylvania SP, rusty blackbird and fox
sparrow at Metz wetlands, great egret and horned grebe at Occoquan NWR.
The bald eagle nest at Neabsco creek appears to have young, based on the
parents' behavior. A real treat on 21st was a woodcock displaying
behind my house in Woodbridge.
