[va-bird] Red-necked Phalaropes at Blandy Experimental Farm

At 3 pm on 22 May 2003, Ron Salmon and I saw 8 Red-necked Phalaropes
feeding on Lake Arnold at the Blandy Experimental Farm. Blandy is on US 50
in Clarke County Virginia, a mile and a half east of the intersection of US
340 and US 50. Lake Arnold is the largest of the ephemeral ponds on Blandy
is is visible from the gravel loop road. Blandy is home to the State
Arboretum of Virginia and is open to the public at no charge from dawn to
dusk 365 days a year.
