This morning (5/20/03) there were 2 beautiful breeding plumaged Red-necked
Phalaropes at Craney Island in Portsmouth, Va. The birds were in the
southeast portion of the north impoundment, just north of the north
cross-dike. Along the western shore of Craney, were a breeding plumaged Red
Knot and a Black-necked Stilt. Lots of shorebirds of various sorts were
present all across Craney, including Short-billed Dowitcher, Stilt
Sandpiper, Dunlin, and both Yellowlegs, and lots of "peep" (mostly Least).
