VA Birders:
Shortly after noon today (11/16) we found a Red-necked Grebe
at Musick's Campground. Later in the afternoon, it had moved
a few hundred yards up South Holston Lake and was in
Washington County, Virginia just offshore of the county
campground in the Spring Creek Embayment.
This is the first records for this species in Southwest Virginia
since the invasion years of 1994 (Wise Co./Washington Co)
and 1996 (Washington Co.).
Today's grebe was found by Wallace Coffey, Don Holt, Rack
Cross and later seen by Howard Langridge, Reece Jamerson
and Rick Knight.
